The Manner is a luxury hotel located in the heart of New York’s Soho district, an area renowned for high-end fashion, contemporary art galleries, and cutting-edge design—an absolute landmark not only for the city, but for the world.
The project turned out to be a true masterpiece, and our handcrafted terracotta tiles were used in several iconic areas of the hotel: The Otter, the Lobby, and The Apartment. Thanks to the aesthetic vision of Hannes Peer and the impeccable work of Verena Haller and the PR and Marketing teams, The Manner received extraordinary media attention and widespread recognition from the international press.

The tiles Hannes asked us to create for this project had already impressed us during production, but it was only once they were placed within the hotel that we fully grasped their expressive power.
This is where the talent of an architect like Hannes truly shines: the ability to see the beauty in a simple material and reinterpret it, setting it in dialogue with other elements in an unexpected and striking fusion—one that reveals new aesthetic possibilities that may have always been there, yet only now take shape.

The tiles are entirely hand-pressed, following ancient artisanal traditions.
Each step of the double-firing process is carried out by hand: from the vibro-finishing of the bricks, to the airbrush glazing, and finally the second firing in electric kilns. It’s a patient and meticulous process that gives each piece its unique character.

Among all, the color that surprised us the most—as well as the way it was used, taking on an almost starring role—was the use of glazed strips for the flooring in The Apartment.
Located on the hotel’s first floor, this room features sofas, magazines, coffee tables, an open bar, and a refined central fireplace: everything you need for a relaxing afternoon cocktail in a cozy, sophisticated atmosphere.
Walking into The Manner is a fully immersive, multisensory experience. Every detail is crafted with obsessive precision; every corner and wall tells a story—nothing is left to chance.
The atmosphere evokes the charm of a refined 1960s lounge or the elegant intimacy of a friend’s impeccably styled home.
This is where Hannes Peer’s vision comes to life—his personal “Nostalgic Utopia“—which finds its fullest expression in The Manner.
Inside The Manner, you’ll also find the restaurant “The Otter”—a space with an intimate, sophisticated charm, where attention to detail is evident from the moment you step inside.
In the welcoming area leading to the dining room, our handcrafted glazed strips were used to clad the walls, creating a finish that is both textured and refined.

One of the most striking elements is found inside the room:
a fireplace clad in our transparent glazed strips, which reinterprets the aesthetics of an old hearth in a contemporary key—evoking warmth, elegance, and a sense of memory.

When a project is carried out with true craftsmanship and cohesive design vision, it doesn’t go unnoticed. Since the day it opened, The Manner has received numerous accolades and has been featured in the world’s most prestigious international publications—spanning the fields of hospitality, architecture, and interior design.
Among the media outlets that have celebrated the project are:
AD Architectural Digest, Wallpaper, Elle Decor, Dezeen, Interior Design Magazine, and Hospitality Design, as well as Condé Nast Traveler’s Hot List, Travel + Leisure It List, Hospitality Design (HD) Awards, and Prix Versailles.
We’re confident many more awards will follow—and that this remarkable project will continue to make headlines for years to come.

To conclude, let’s go back to the beginning…
…to the Lobby of The Manner, where exquisite craftsmanship meets modern elegance.
Here, striking wooden sculptures, fine Carrara marble floors, and a dramatic travertine staircase transform the space into a true cinematic set—worthy of a film like The Great Gatsby.
On one wall, a ceramic bas-relief sculpture by a renowned international artist draws the eye.
Beneath it, there’s a seemingly “simple” bench—at first glance, just a functional element, designed for guests to sit or for placing luggage and housekeeping tools.
In reality, this bench is an integral part of the design and artistic vision of the space.

That bold red that lights up the bench is, in fact, created using our handcrafted glazed tiles.
On the very last row of these fiery red tiles, Hannes Peer and his team generously made space for a touch of our own identity—placing a tile with our signature.
A small gesture, but one that holds great meaning for us, and for which we are truly grateful.
