Fornace Bernasconi is pleased to have participated in an exceptional project in the Roman countryside: a villa in Castel Madama, designed by architect Massimo Adario, inspired by the Experimental House of Alvar Aalto in Finland.
Handmade Terracotta: Natural Flow Between Indoor and Outdoor Spaces
In this project, we had the pleasure of collaborating by providing consultancy and support in the selection, supply, installation, and treatment of handmade terracotta, a natural and eco-friendly material. The choice of terracotta created a continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces, adding warmth, harmony, and a sense of naturalness to the environments.
Not just flooring: the project also features a special blue glazed terracotta, used as a wall covering to create a visual contrast against the surrounding neutral tones. A solution that combines functionality and aesthetics, allowing design language to engage in a dialogue with the material.
Craftsmanship at the Service of Contemporary Design
Handmade terracotta is a material that transforms spaces, warming the environment without being tied to a rustic style: elegance, authenticity, and versatility coexist in every piece. Our collaboration enhanced the unique characteristics of the material, integrating it with Massimo Adario’s creative vision.
The project was recently published in the Special 35th Anniversary Edition of Elle Decor Italiand and won the Best of Interior Award in the Villa category.
